Allergies are common. I believe that living with uncontrolled symptoms should not simply become your normal.
Â
I am Dr Ina-Mari McAlister, a General Practitioner with additional postgraduate training in allergy and asthma care.

After many years in General Practice, I became increasingly aware of how much uncontrolled allergies can affect everyday life. From poor sleep and problems concentrating, to anxiety about social functions and physical activities.

I wanted to spend more time understanding what was driving these symptoms and how to reduce future flare-ups, rather than simply treating them when they occurred. This led me to further training in allergy and asthma.

My aim is to give you the time and space to understand what may be happening, what is contributing to your symptoms and how we can manage them in a practical, evidence-based way.

Whether you are seeking answers for yourself or your child, you will leave with a clearer understanding of your condition and a plan for what comes next.

Testing and treatments to help understand your symptoms and manage allergic conditions more effectively.
Skin prick testing
Skin prick testing can help identify allergies to common environmental triggers, such as house dust mites, pollen and pets. Results are available during your consultation and are interpreted alongside your symptoms.
Allergen Immunotherapy
For some people, allergen immunotherapy offers a way to treat the underlying allergy rather than just managing symptoms.
It works by gradually reducing sensitivity to specific allergens, such as house dust mites or pollen, and can be given as injections (SCIT) or treatment under the tongue (SLIT).
Lung function testing
Spirometry, peak flow measurements and bronchodilator response testing help assess how well your lungs are working and support the diagnosis and management of asthma.
Penicillin allergy assessment and delabellingÂ
Many people who believe they are allergic to penicillin may not actually be allergic. After reviewing your allergy history, we can offer a supervised oral penicillin challenge for suitable low-risk patients to check whether the allergy label can safely be removed.
